Westcliff students travel to Nepal for the WHSG World Challenge 2024
As the school summer holiday started, 3 teams comprising 57 students from Years 9 and 10 accompanied by 6 staff members travelled to Nepal for the WHSG World Challenge 2024.
The students visited a number of charities in Nepal including the Seven Women Workshop, originally set up to support disabled women suffering from discrimination, but now supports women all over Nepal to believe in themselves, learn new skills and find employment.
The teams then spent 3 days in the Kevin Rohan Memorial Eco Foundation which aims to foster health and well-being in Nepal’s most impoverished communities. Whilst there, the students worked to support the project by weeding vegetable plots, moving soil to level the ground in preparation for a play area, painting and helping to prepare dinner.
Whilst in Nepal, the teams were also able to immerse themselves in the culture by trekking down through the hills to the ancient city of Bhaktapur. They toured the ancient city before attending pottery and painting workshops
This, like all World Challenge trips, was a unique opportunity for the students to experience the people and culture of Nepal in a way unlike any other trip.
